Men of Football help family from IFS

Oliver & Katrina Ross have been doing it a bit tough. Last year Oliver found out he had bowel cancer & had to have surgery. Following surgery he had chemo. His cancer returned in his liver this year & he had to have a third of it removed. He has just started chemo again to be sure all the cancer is eradicated. He has not been able to work during this time. Katrina had breast cancer 5 years ago which resulted in a double mastectomy.
They have 2 sons, Luca 12 & Charles 15, who have attended the International Football School at Kariong for 3 years.
The family have been connected to Hornsby Football Club for about 14 years. Oliver is an active committee member there and has been a coach over the years.
A trivia night was held recently which raised $22000 for the family. MOFCC Welfare Officer Chris Rubie presented a cheque at the night on behalf of Men of Football which was gratefully received.
We wish the Ross's well for the future - "You'll Never Walk Alone".

2017 Golf Day

One of MOFCC's major annual fundraisers, the Charity Golf Day, was held Friday August 18 at Tuggerah Lakes Golf Club at Shelly Beach. About 130 golfers enjoyed a sunny & very windy day which made for some interesting stories.

Congratulations to the Coastal Design group who won the day - Warren Stephenson, Clinton Judson, Tyler Burnes & Matt Bailey. The Beveridge group came second & the Sam Rodger group third. A BBQ breakfast & a nice luncheon was enjoyed by all & a raffle with some great prizes & a number of auction items helped raise money for MOFCC. Total amount raised was $11000.

Thanks to all who participated & made it a great day. Thanks also to the Mariners who always support the day - in particular Paul Okon, Josh Rose & Nick Montgomery.

Ben Allen donation

On Tuesday evening the 7th of June, Phil McNab from MOFCC presented a cheque to Dean Mailey for the family of 9 year old Ben Allen who plays for the U10s at Doyalson Soccer Club. Ben's recovering from a recent operation to remove a tumour from behind his heart due to Epithilioid Sarcoma & medical costs have strained the family's finances. Phil also donated a MOF cap for Ben's collection from his Facebook page called "Ben's Caps For Cancer" - check it out & see if your club can donate a club cap.
You'll never walk alone.
